Panozzo's Retail Space Up For Lease; Won't Reopen

It appears that the South Loop neighborhood won't be chowing down on a Panozzo's (1303 S. Michigan) sandwich anytime soon or maybe ever again.  As you may recall the popular Italian deli abruptly closed back in October last year.

A reader recently sent us this picture:

We checked out the listing on Craigslist and here is what it says:
We have for lease a beautiful restaurant space on Michigan Avenue in the heart of Chicago's South Loop. This space offers approximately 1750 sq. ft. of like new facilities including two new customer washrooms, large prep area, large walk-in cooler and freezer, full kitchen with wash sinks, prep sink, newer hood, neon accent window lighting, full Honeywell alarm system and separate employee washroom. Also available for a negotiated price are a like new deli cooler, side display cooler, steam table, bakers racks, cash registers, scales and miscellaneous pans, containers and supplies. As we are the owners of the building we can negotiate a lease price without added commissions and fees.

We also confirmed this is accurate with Mike Panozzo.

My stomach is sad.
