Chicago Weekly Looks at the Best of the South Loop for 2009

Chicago Weekly, the independent voice of the University of Chicago, recently highlighted the best of the South Loop in 2009:
Best place to get everything - Maxwell Street Market (S. Des Plaines Ave.)
Best Italian imports - Panozzo's (1303 S. Michigan Ave.)
Best midnight drunk food - White Palace Grill (1159 S. Canal St.)
Best alfresco - Cafe Society (1801 S. Indiana Ave.)
Best-designed café - Little Branch Cafe (1251 S. Prairie Ave.)
Do you agree with these places?

Made my first trip to Little Branch a couple weeks ago, and I'll be back. The space is very nice. Last year, they called out Opart, also a fine choice.

I don't know what you call that stretch between the river and the Dan Ryan, but Maxwell St Market and White Palace feel not very South Loop to me.

Panozzo's is amazing.

While I like Cafe Society very much (especially the friendly owner) - I feel that their outdoor patio experience is less than it could be. While it has all the potential to be amoung the top al fresco spots in the entire city, it's poorly maintained and infested with rodents from the huge garbage dump which sits right on the patio.
