Shots Around the Sloop: Not the Place to Park

The owners of the penthouse party pad at prairie point (see previous thread) had a party on sunday night and there were drunks all over the place. This is not even remotely funny and all are lucky that nobody was killed.

That is terrible. I really feel bad for anybody in the building. Has anyone in the building involved the police every time there is a noise disturbance. Plus you guys must have the weakest condo association of all times. There should be by laws for levying fines and also stipulations for eviction. This blog is the last place for grievances. Involve the police or even the alderman's office.

saw the wreckage around 5am on my way to work...walked up to the just to make sure nobody was inside ...i was really surprised that the cops hadnt been there already and at least put up some caution tape so people would know they have reviewed the seen ...gave me a little adrenaline rush as i didnt even notice it in the dark until i saw the bench was destroyed

I'd bet big money that the driver of this car was a renter, not owner, in the sloop.

Wow,
My wife and I rent in the sloop. Thanks for making me feel like a dirtbag. Not my car by the way. I would bet big money that being a renter or owner has little or no correlation to driving ability. Or wait, I will only bet little money because Im a renter and probably do not have much cash. You should read the latest Mens Health there is a great article on why in these economic times its smart to rent. Where is the penthouse party pad? Thats too bad for the people in the building . That doesn't sound legal to me,

Well, to be fair, I believe anon @ January 5, 2011 1:21 PM was sarcastically echoing what has become a meme for the regular anons on this site.

Regardless, I wouldn't pay much heed to the regular anons. They are high on opinion and low on facts. Case in point anon @ January 6, 2011 4:40 PM who is reigniting the lively fact-deficient debate over the park at Prairie Pointe. The last debate involved an anon who had difficulty distinguishing between that park and the proposed dog park at 16th and Wabash.

Is it not the case that the park will remain unfunded without the lot deal, the parking lot would only take up a small part of the land, there would be a natural partition between the lot and park, and that the lot will benefit the local business for which it would be built?

What "local businesses"? In case you haven't noticed, there are NO local businesses in the sloop (even in areas with vast parking availability (see RC)).

I typed "Local business," as in a specific local business, but now that you mention it, more than one business was pursuing the parking plan. The businesses in question are both across the street at 1550 S Indiana, and include the medical offices in that building and United Service Companies.

Not all businesses need 5 signs like Subway to declare their presence. If you'd ever walked by this area and opened your eyes instead of speeding by in a car, you would find several businesses in the area.

This actually happened twice within a week. I noticed the fence and bench had been fixed after the first "accident" and a few days later the same thing had happened again. As of this morning there was still debris and a broken bench etc.

The condo association is responsible for it, and they have the free option of conveying it to the Park District at anytime. United Services is trying to get a free ride and the neighbors are losing open space. Potentially this 'publically acessible park' built for the community will become privately controlled parking for use by the condo association after hours, and not for the community as zoned.

the part where you indicate thege the claim park will remain unfunded is not correct.

Isn't it correct that it is currently unfunded (as a park, as opposed to a vacant lot) and would remain unfunded until either the park district decides to purchase it or Prairie Pointe decides to fund the park via the assessments of its residents?
