Pet Grooming Shop Coming to 1400 S. Michigan

Michigan Avenue Tower II (@1400 S. Michigan) had a slow start to their retail, but it appears that their third retail space is going to be rented out based on the building permit on the window. The building permit says (in case you can't read it):
Interior renovation for a new pet grooming shop in existing 28 story, I-A building as per plan, not part of the condo association
The pet grooming shop joins Sanctuary and Waffles in the buildings retail space. That leaves only one vacant retail space in the building and it's probably the most high-profile space which is on the corner of 14th and Michigan.

This is likely to garner alot of pressure from 13 dog haters we have in the southloop.

Hahaha. I thought the same thing Amanda! I can't wait to see the uproar.

this should get very interesting, perhaps some picketting?

LOL I don't think the south loop needs anymore pet hospitals/grooming places/ vets and I"M a dog owner! Democrats are always wrong and ruining the country

It'd be great if they offered a service to pick up feces from the sidewalks.

I give it thru May 1st, then it fails.

Then it becomes a cleaners.

Then it becomes a subway.

OK, let the dogs stay.

But can we ditch those bike lanes?

The race is on to see which one of these 1400 S Michigan retailers will throw in the towel first!

Sanctuary next to a Dog groomer??!! Too easy...

Nevertheless, it's one less vacant spot. Anything to combat dog-stank is good news in my book. Best of luck!

I beg for a chipotle or a good food place that is open and delivers after midnight. We have no late night delivery options other than dominos(gross) in the Sloop! Lucky if open till 1030 for pickup and nothing open after midnight. I doubt a place like that would be allowed to open in one of the few highrises south of roosevelt that actually has some occupied storefront such as this building. However so many of the buildings south of 14th have completely empty storefront space, not a single unit filled. Late night neighborhood food spots and a liquor store open till 4am like every other successful neighborhood has are much needed.

I hereby announce my candidacy for the next 2nd Ward Alderman. I will run on a platform with a single mission: the eradication of:

Dogs
Dog owners
Dog parks
Dog stores
Dog poop
Veterinarians (and vegetarians)
Snoop Doggy Dogg
and Dog, "The Bounty Hunter"

But seriously. I don't like dogs. And please clean up your dog poop.

I would love a place that could offer man scaping services. Not just dogs want to feel beautiful.

Is this a joke? Another pet place? Seriously, what a waste.

Man scaping is at Halo across the street. I agree, late night place would be nice. As for the final space in 1400, I was told it was a bar from the owners son shooting to open 4/1/12. Not sure if that is still the case as the rumor went around a few months back.

The final space in 1400 has not been leased yet and from what I hear there are no serious offers

the final spot was just leased to a new Bar called "Station Stop pub and eatery" The signs were just put up on the door the other day. Saw them first hand. Apparently it is a little micro brew place that is supposed to have good home cooked chow. I live in the building so I'll snap some photos

Solid news Steven, thx for the update. Wish we had some info on Alain's across the street...

the management at Waffles also told me the other day that they were thinking of getting a nearby space (maybe not in the same building if it has been taken) for a wine and cheese, small plate style restaurant. It seemed they were thinking sometime in a about a year based on the brief conversation.

"13 dog haters in the south loop" . . . Are you kidding? There are more than 13 dog haters on my floor in my building alone! All stems from the one dog owner (a renter) on our floor who let's his pooch run down the hall, scratch up the walls and floors, and trounces mud all over the place whenever he comes in from outside. Plus, the dog barks ALL NIGHT LONG.
