Artist's Cafe to Open on Saturday, September 8th?

A couple of weeks ago we noticed that the sign for the Artist's Cafe (1150 S. Wabash) was up and pondered if that meant they would open soon.  If you've walked by recently you probably also noticed that the brown paper was off the windows exposing a colorful and modern looking interior.

On Saturday, we received an email from a friend of the blog giving us a good scoop on the opening date:
Saw in one of your earlier posts speculation about when this will open. I was there today (Sept 1st) and was told by the owner that she's opening a week from today. Here's a pic if you want to use it:

This is great news.  Looking forward to trying it out!

The yelp reviews for the other location are pretty awful (admittedly never been there myself), so let's hope it reviews a little better once it opens.

We, 2 career chefs, enjoyed a delicious lunch here this week. WAY above average food for the price.
Half Sandwich, Bowl of Soup and Fries for us both and 1 can Pellegrino $21.50.
I complimented the manager on the Roasted Red Pepper, Tomato Soup that had a smattering of tiny bits of Crimini Mushrooms. It was EXCELLENT. Maybe one of the top 5 soups I have enjoyed in all my travels. We could tell right then that there was a REAL chef on board at this under $10 lunch cafe. What a pleasure.
My Grilled Veg Sandwich was on a high quality herb bread, properly cooked and seasoned Vegetable.Fries were cooked perfectly.People were really enjoying the nice decor and food all around us. I truly think they will need another location or larger room soon. Kudos to HIGH STANDARDS even if it is casual.
