Protected Bike Lane Coming to Dearborn Avenue in Printers Row

Apparently this is bike lane week here at Sloopin...yesterday we posted about a new buffered bike lane that was painted on Wabash North of Roosevelt and today we wanted to pass along some interesting information about a new protected bike lane that has been proposed for Dearborn starting at Polk.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times:
Protected lanes on Dearborn will run in both directions from Polk Street to Kinzie Street. The popular Kinzie protected lanes will be extended east to connect with Dearborn.
This is a promising development for bikers as it provides a safe route heading to and from Printer's Row.  Dearborn is one of our favorite stretches in the neighborhood and in our opinion this is a step in the right direction to make it more pedestrian friendly (although not as good as our dream to make parts of Dearborn a pedestrian only street).

Glad to hear the city is continuing to prioritize alternative ways of travel and glad the South Loop is at the forefront of this trend.
