Sloopin's Top Stories of 2013
#2) Mariano's Opens and Sloop Goes Wild

Over the past year a ton has happened in the South Loop.  Since there are a few Monday's left in the year, we thought we would count down the top 5 stories on Sloopin in 2013 according to Google Analytics.
We've spent a lot of time talking about this grocery store opening so we won't belabor the point much more.

Mariano's (1615 S. Clark) opened in the South Loop and most everyone is happy about this.  Beyond them opening, they also setup shop in a relatively desolate area of the neighborhood and in turn provided some much needed energy to South Clark street.

On opening day in October, we tried to trample down enthusiasm, but the reality is that this opening is good for the South Loop (after all this did rack up the second most amount of page views on Sloopin in 2013).

While we don't anticipate a grocery story registering in the top 5 stories for 2014, we could be wrong.  Jewel-Osco buying the Dominick's location just down the street has potential to be an interesting story, but it's still not as big of a deal as Mariano's opening.

Anyway, glad to have them in the Sloop!
