Where is the Best Place to Meet Women in the Sloop?

While Sloopin isn't shifting its focus to be a hyper-local match.com, we thought readers might be able to help a new potential Sloopin resident:

Hey Sloopin-

I stumbled upon your website as I am moving to Chicago and am thinking about moving to the “Sloop.” Couple of questions. Where is the best place in the “Sloop” to meet women? What are “Sloopin” women like? Also, I am going to be living close to Donna’s cafĂ©… It looks cute… Thoughts on if it’s a good place to meet people?

Thx!
E
Let him know your thoughts, but please keep it clean.

Also, for some reason, this video popped into our mind when we read this readers email, enjoy:

What is this person's age? Race? YES IT MATTERS! Tantrum vs The Scout for example. South Loop's single population is growing, but sometimes the best option is to live in SL (for a newer, spacious place close to work), but to recommend this person to travel to River North on weekends or Lincoln Park or Wicker Park or Bridgeport or Bronzeville depending on who you are you (do you have Game?) and what type of woman you are seeking.

Donna's Cafe you ask? Well, here is the typicall crowd at Donna's: One 30-35 yr. old professional(possibly single) working intently on a computer drinking a cup of Donna's "bottomless" coffee and one surly 50 something woman behind the counter bitching about people sitting in her cafe all day and only ordering a cup of coffee. So, if being treated like your at the DMV by the proprietor of a restaurant and having your choice of seats in an empty place is your kind of thing then Donna's is where it's at! Enjoy!

I agree this is an awful post. "E" just needs to visit the area and found out for himself.

Women like sushi as they see it as health conscious and hip. I have noticed a number of good looking girls dinning at Triad on 20th and Indiana. The food is good and they have a small lounge area. There was also the previous post about South Coast and their new lounge space. But to be honest I think South Coast is over-rated and over-priced...but if that's the kind of girl you want...

LoL . Thanks for posting a funny thread. I suggest trying the dogpark, millenium, grant park,or south michigan avenue. Take daily jogs around the nabe to subtly check out the area. Maybe he could meet a fellow jogger, there they have something in common. Go visit the most popular grocery store at its crowdest. Talk someone up in line etc. Also learn the art of small chat. He can't go wrong with these startegies.

I'm sorry, but the SL (er Sloop) is not the place to meet hot single women. You'll see more hot women on the Quincy/Madison/Wells El stop at 5 PM waiting for the Purple Line on one day than a whole month of walking/jogging/shopping in the Sloop. When I used to frequently jog around the Museum Campus, I remembered seeing only one attractive female! She was wearing these really short shorts and tight tank top. If you're a runner, going north pass Navy Peer suddenly reveals ladies everywhere (weather permitting). If you're a college dude, every Columbia chick pretty much dress themselves in the dark/emo/goth style as opposed to the bright hues worn by north side kids. Even in Trader Joes, River North's got us beat in the single ladies department. Like the old newspaper articles says... the SL is the place to retire, where married couples roam, and where big suburban Bears fans chow down their 9 AM hot dogs/beers in our parking lots.

@GBSlooper: Love it.

Donna's Cafe: Get Jazzy.
The Scout: The only place where those outside our neighborhood come to drink, so don't be fooled into thinking these are Sloop women. They are Northside yups.
Wabash Tap: Same thing as the Scout actually, except from Bridgeport.

Your best bet: After walking your pup shitzu around grant park and striking up a conversation or two ("if you get one, they will come"), take a walk to the Trader Joe's where you'll have your choice among the health conscious yet budget minded South Loop female. Or, if you have rather more expensive tastes, for groceries, and maybe a higher maintenance Sloop woman, stroll past the TJ and hop into a cab (shared with a striking beauty if possible) on your way to Whole Foods. If you find one there, take one of WF's cooking classes and you're set, my friend.
Don't forget, you're in the city now: designer jeans - dress shoes, no socks.

I know this sounds weird, but I've met a few guys (I am a single woman) at the Dearborn and Polk bus stop. Sound gross? Maybe. But if you're waiting for a bus from around 8-9am, the men and women are completely different from what you'll see walking around later in the day. Most are young, well dressed professionals.

Not that I advocate picking up women at bus stops. At all.

Just an observation!

I also think that guys miss the opportunity to pick up women at Kasey's. I always see single girls go in there and leave shortly thereafter.

you meet girls in the loop at nice bars/resturants..

you bring them HOME to the south loop....

Sloop is the best neighborhood to meet available housewives! There are so many neglected moms here, it's like stealing candy from a baby... literally!
Visit any playground, find that hot mom with the yoga pants, ask her when naptime is...

Makes me question Sloopy's intelligence on this one. What were you thinking?

E, what are you doing tomorrow night? I would love to show you around the Sloop. There are some great bball courts down on 18th, we could hoop it up a bit and then go Cafe Bionda for dinner. Sometimes they have rats lurking around but we can sit inside. After dinner, Donna's is having a Michael Jackson party - we can get our white gloves on and dance it up! Great first date, don't you think? You'll be moving to the Sloop in no time.

My advice for this guy is to sniff around Oysy sushi restaurant on South Michigan. Some real hot tottie working as waitresses at that place.

Some fresh tuna sushimi as well.

Wow. Came to Sloopin to catch up on the neighborhood goings-on, NOT to get creeped out by the thought of lonely men cruising dog parks and playgrounds for stay-at-home moms... This thread is creeeeep-tastic. Thanks for confirming the sneaking suspicion that I've always had of the South Loop, Sloopin! Nice work.
