It pales in comparison to the mass-jaywalking that occurs between the Roosevelt L stop and across the street by Starbucks & bus stop. Bottom line, Chicago is full of lawlessness. The cops must prioritize.MarkChicagohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08776136299098724542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1167519580792566980.post-7913763691395333052011-03-01T08:31:31.710-06:002011-03-01T08:31:31.710-06:00@Anonymous at February 27, 2011 2:32 PM -- I'd...@Anonymous at February 27, 2011 2:32 PM -- I'd say it's more like what you see on the busy North Side where there's no parking! .... but gotta agree, it's totally douchey to park illegally. As a bicyclist I see this ALL the time in bike lanes. For all those who are all for the illegal parking, gotta wonder how many parking tickets they've racked up.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1167519580792566980.post-7707278603157532052011-02-28T22:59:32.325-06:002011-02-28T22:59:32.325-06:00I have to agree with the last poster. The amount ...I have to agree with the last poster. The amount of illegally-parked cars around that dunkin donuts is ridiculous. However, considering a large population of the illegally-parked-patrons are cops (I know, how cliche!), I doubt the tickets and towing that is needed will ever happen. The most disturbing of all: along the north side of 16th street, where numerous cars park illegally every morning, is actually a turning lane! There isn't street parking AT ALL on that street. Meaning all those cars are actually stopped and parked in a lane of travel!! Not at all the same as parking along a curb in an actual parking spot and "hopping in" for your morning sugar and caffine fix.

But I'm not surprised, considering the utter lack of respect for even the most mundane laws by some inhabitants of this neighborhood.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1167519580792566980.post-63123340967583578412011-02-27T14:32:34.608-06:002011-02-27T14:32:34.608-06:00FYI: it is highly illegal to park in a "no p...FYI: it is highly illegal to park in a "no parking" zone. Hence the tickets/tows for parking in a "no parking" zone. And hazard lights are for use when there is a "hazard."

It is extremely unsafe when someone comes flying north down michigan, cuts off several CTA buses, parks illegally right in front of the Dunkin and the bus stop, and then waddles his heafty butt into the doughnut shop while leaving his vehicle unattended and blocking access to the corner for pedestrians, moving vehicles, and buses.

Thinking that this is "no big deal" and "who cares?" is the type of attitude that will see this neighborhood mirror those just south of here within the next few years.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1167519580792566980.post-61496432284600505442011-02-25T17:22:01.093-06:002011-02-25T17:22:01.093-06:00Agreed! It's not "illegally parked"...Agreed! It's not "illegally parked" when you stop, throw your hazards on and run into get a cup of coffee. That takes a total of about 2 minutes. When there isn't a parking lot for places such as DD, where are it's patrons supposed to go?!?

And I think "dozens" is a bit of an exaggeration.Larissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15702086984423348184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1167519580792566980.post-87300460878701551852011-02-23T21:49:37.739-06:002011-02-23T21:49:37.739-06:00Why is a big deal to have cars double parked to ge...Why is a big deal to have cars double parked to get a cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts @ 16th and Michigan. Every morning there are dozens of illegally parked vehicles along both 16th and Michigan at this place!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1167519580792566980.post-41977961687689666842011-02-23T12:11:15.078-06:002011-02-23T12:11:15.078-06:00Interesting. There has been a car parked there for about 3 weeks, and has about 20+ tickets on the windshield. Not sure why it hasn't been towed!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
