Nepal House Set to Open Today at 1301 S. Michigan

Momo at Nepal House - COURTESY OF BALA GHIMIRE (Chicago Magazine)
Isn't it nice when things go according to plan?  Back in March a signed appeared in the window of Nepal House, the restaurant replacing A'Cappela Bistro at 1301 S. Michigan.  The sign said "coming soon" and "opening first week of April".

Well it's the first week of April and according to a post on Chicago Magazine, it's opening day:
Openings
4/5: The team behind Chicago Curry House will serve traditional Nepalese and Indian cuisine at Nepal House (1301 S. Michigan Ave., 312-922-0601).
If they serve Momo's that look like the picture above, we're going to be very very happy!

  2. Great news! Bala is the best and he does a fantastic job at Curry House. They cater a lot of our events at work and all our guests are always pleased. I am really happy to see Bala opening a second place.

  3. South Loopers! Support these guys.. we keep asking for the right businessess to move in... here we go... they did a fantastic job in making the place have a nice soothing feel and food is great. Service is like being in India (top notch, pleasant, respectful). If you go with 2 or more - order a couple of apps, 2 entrees and rice - Share the food.

  5. Dinner last night was fantastic. they were very busy on their opening night, which is encouraging. We will definitely be going back. Like the prior commenter, we need to support our local businesses.

  6. Went there and was underwhelmed. I know it was the first night but the service was unbelievably slow. Took nearly 45 minutes to even get our appetizers. They have other restaurants so putting your best foot forward and getting service like that is a concern. The food was very Americanized. I'm sure a lot of people don't mind that but it lacked any real ethnic pop. Hope they correct service issue and stay a little more true to the food.

  7. Had takeout there Friday night and it was excellent. The restaurant was more than half full and it looked like seven or eight take-out tickets were under mind. Not too bad for opening night. Glad they're in the neighborhood!

  8. Got take-out dinner tonight - it was delicious! Totally exceeded expectations. Someone gave them a 2-star review on yelp - they deserve way better reviews than that!
