Nepal House (1301 S. Michigan) Shooting for Early April Opening

It's been a couple months since we've posted about Nepal House coming to the southeast corner of 13th and Michigan (1301 S. Michigan).  For those of you who are curious as to when this will open, a sign appeared in the window recently saying "OPENING SOON first week of April 2013":

While we're not sure if this will happen, the buildout inside the space has been ongoing.  It looks like they've made progress, so hopefully they meet their opening date.

  1. These are the same people who run Chicago Curry House on Plymouth? Look forward to another excellent addition to the South Loop.

  4. This is great news! I like the Curry House - we use to walk from downtown to go to their lunch buffet once every couple of months. Great service as well. Indian food tip: Dont ever order al a carte. Go to a buffet or order family style and share different items.

  5. Bad news people. This place is on,y loosely associated with the curry house and is still owned by acapella. The shadiest business ever. Hope the IRS reads this blog.

  6. 9:13pm - who cares.. someone has to own the building/property. Nepal house will be renting the space as most restaurants do. If you guys knew that they were actually protecting our neighborhood vs causing harm you wouldn't worry.

  10. While it is always more fun to listen to gossip based in no actual fact and the truth is in comparison boring, I am going to leave you with the truth. And no, it's not something I have heard "on the street"! Let's just say I have first-hand knowledge. Yes, I said FIRST HAND knowledge and no, I am not the owner of the former restaurant, A’Capella Bistro. The building that A'Capella was housed in is owned by a partnership. One of the partners of the building leased the corner retail space and opened the restaurant. After several years the restaurant closed. The partnership that owns the building has now re-leased the corner retail space to Nepal House. There is NO relationship whatsoever between the former restaurant, A'Capella Bistro and the new restaurant, Nepal House. Additionally, to stop other ridiculous rumors (as fun as they are!) A'Capella Bistro was NOT a front for any type of illegal cop activity. It was simply a restaurant that tried to stay open against surmounting odds and eventually closed for obvious reasons. Now, see! I told you, the truth is rarely as entertaining as rumor! But it is....the truth. We believe that Nepal House will be a great restaurant addition to the South Loop and we are excited to see them open soon!
