Sloopers Most Looking Forward to Roosevelt Collection Retail Update

12 comments:

  1. It will be a good year for the Sloop If even half of these projects/concepts are completed or started by the end of the year. Alains, the lounge at 14th, pastry shop at 1250 should be open by summer. If they can fill up Roosevelt collection by the end of the year with some attractive stores/restaurants then the Sloop will start looking like originally planned.

  2. If the readers of this blog followed city hall and were in any way concerned with their property value, the top story - in a landslide - would be the racist gerrymandering of the sloop wards. The majority of what we all consider the sloop will be absolutely, positively ignored by our new alderwoman (Dowell). Take a read of this weeks Gazette (@ page 8) where Dowell is quoted as telling the Chicago Tribune that her main goal is "to maintain African American political power." Just what sloop resident taxpayers, who are overwhelmingly caucasian, want to hear from our ward leader. Disgusting.

  3. There will be a new election before Dowell would take over. I highly doubt for many reasons that she will be elected here.

  4. Does anybody know what retail is rumored to go in? There usually is a guy who knows a guy. Let's break the streak and use the comment sections for good.

  5. Anon 1:36. She doesn't have to be elected here. The vast majority of the population of her ward is well south of the south loop.

  6. Why haven't we seen any lawsuits about this yet?

  7. Anon 6:52: that is exactlly the point! Since the vast majority of her ward is FAR south of the sloop, she will be elected by those folks, who have completely different issues/problems/priorities as those of us in Museum Park. Nonetheless, based on the ward boundaries, she will be "representing" us as our alderman, without a care in the world about what takes place outside of the african american community (based on her own racist admission). This is a HUGE problem for this neighborhood. If you don't see that: WAKE UP!

  8. is there anything we can realistically do about the new ward map and protect ourselves from Dowell? Fioretti has done a great job in my opinion, well at least better than your average Chicago alderman.

  9. is dowell taking over the new 3rd ward or 4th ward? and which alderman would take over the other. Looks like they chopped the sloop down the middle and stretched it south

  10. @ anon -February 5 -6:14 PM...I heard Ulta is planning to go into Roosevelt Collection.

I agree with the other comments that we need to be worried about our ward being taken over by Dowell. She doesn't seem to have an issue with the fact that her existing ward is over run with public housing. It's very disturbing to hear that she tried to delay the South Loop Marianos until one was built further south in her ward. There's a thread on Everyblock talking about her and the issues the area directly south of the South Loop are having.

  11. Ald. dow is the worst. She is the schiller of the south side(ex-uptown ald. She wants to create poverty warehouses so she can stay in power and not be held accountable. She is a typical democrat she needs a large uneducated underclass to stay in power. They are sheep, they won't hold them accountable or complain as long as they are getting their "entitlements".

  12. I am very worried for us South Loopers who will fall in Dowell's Ward. We get the worst of the break-up. Her viewpoints and politics are so biased to her south side constituents that we will get the short end of the stick.

I am truly worried and would love a meeting of some sort to discuss with fellow South Loopers.
