What to Do for Halloween in the Sloop?

A reader writes:

I was wondering when you will start posting information on Halloween events in the South Loop.

Thanks!
D

Well we don't have many specifics in regard to Halloween, so figured we would open it up to the readers to share what they do.

We know there are some Halloween Pop-up Stores (one at 9th and Wabash) and we know various organizations and businesses around the Sloop have events. For instance the Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance recently sent us a newsletter:

  • Annual Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest and Party, Thursday, Oct 27

  • Annual Children's Halloween Party, Sunday, Oct 30

  • Family Halloween Parade & Neighborhood Trick or Treat, Monday, Oct 31

  • Chicago Park District Annual Pumpkin Patch, Saturday, Oct 15 at Chicago Women's Park & Gardens

Any readers know of anything else?

  3. we go to the PDNA Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest and Party every year...what a hoot; some of the dog and owner costumes are pretty creative...that and the gift packages given to each pet owner are pretty sweet. Not sure of it was last year or the year before, where on of the pet businesses made the leather poop bag holder which were amazing.

great to see the three new dog waste bag dispensers the pdna installed. great idea whomever thought of it.

  4. Since I was the one doing the asking. ;-) I recall last year that Weather Mark Tavern had a Halloween costume party with Gift Certificates for 1st,2nd and 3rd place. While there, we saw a South Loop Pub Crawl come through. Anyone get to do that last year? Know of one this year?

    Thanks!

  6. To get scared I read some of the comments on Sloopin -- it's scary to think what damage to our neighborhood's reputation can be done by a few ignorant racists.

  7. when will the phantom race card madness end?

  8. @MarkChicago - It's pretty simple really... The discussions about race will stop when you and other commenters stop making racist comments.

  9. Nobody has ever mentioned a particular race. Show me the proof. "Down twinkles" to your negativity.
