Waffles Set to Open Tomorrow

The retail opening bonanza continues in the Sloop.

We've been monitoring the developments at Waffles (1400 S. Michigan) for a couple months now and according to their Facebook page, it appears that everything is set for their grand opening tomorrow.

Besides the catchy and intuitively discriptive name, the place looks great and and best yet, the food looks absolutely delicious.

We can't wait to try this place out. If you go, please come back and let us know your thoughts!

  1. I went this morning. I had the bacon Waffles with fried chicken and it was delicious! They also serve Intelligensia coffee, so that was a plus. I'd highly recommend other Sloopers check it out.

  2. My girlfriend and I went today, the waffles were excellent! The service was friendly and pretty good for a first day. I had the Liege Waffle with Strawberry Rhubarb in top, and my girlfriend had the Green Tea Waffle. They also have Intelligencia Coffee! I'll be back for sure!

  3. Interior is pretty nice with tons of seating. I thought waffles were great, but on the pricey side ($9+) even if they are specialty waffles.

    All in all great addition!

  4. We went shortly after 8.00am this morning, the first Saturday after opening. The place was already crowded. The food was great, delicious and presented nicely (prices a bit on the high side for one waffle, but definitely fair), the staff nice, the place family friendly (though they were short of highchairs - I hope they get some more, difficult to eat with a mobile infant on your lap).
Will definitely go again and recommend Waffles to our friends.
Happy to have this place in our neighborhood!

  5. Will be checking this out very soon. Excited about this. Happy to see a non-cookie cutter kind of place open down here.

  6. I like this place a lot, great for the neighborhood. However, I ended up spending about $17 + tip for Mexican Chocolate Waffle and coffee. Just waffle, no sides.

Prices need to be more realistic for me to come back more often, but I did enjoy the atmosphere and service.

  7. We were excited for this place to open. The food was great and the service was OK, what we expected for a new restaurant. But seriously, the pricing is really high for a plate that came with a waffle on it and that's it. I hope the owners take the feedback that I've seen from reviewers and adjust portions or pricing. There are 4+ breakfast places within a mile so they are going to need to be competitive for the variety of residents in the neighborhood.

  8. Portions need to be larger. It is breakfest. No sides with waffles. Wierd.

  9. Green Tea waffle was amazing! Unfortunately, I agree. The prices are way too high for just a waffle and coffee.

  10. So not worth the price. Average food. Really bad hostess. Not at all family friendly.
