Urban Remix Opens

A couple of weeks ago we posted about a new store opening up at the Marquee buildings called Urban Re-Mix. Well after strolling by this weekend we noticed there was an open sign and naturally ventured in.

We were intrigued by the concept of this store since there really isn't anything similar in the neighborhood. Judging by our first visit it's a good addition to the neighborhood. There is a wide range of furniture, knick knacks, pictures and various other things. Some is new and some is old, but everything looked pretty good to us.

After a brief discussion with the owner she seems very excited about the store and is eager to have others see the things she has found. It is a consignment store, so she encouraged us to talk to her about selling stuff we didn't want.

Anyway, glad to see a store like this open up and best of luck to them. We can always use more stores with unique concepts in the Sloop!

  2. I don't believe they have a website yet. They are open every day of the week except Monday (the owner said that is the day she does her shopping). The building is located on the west side of Michigan one building north of St. Mary's Church (you won't miss it) and I highly recommend checking it out.

  3. Yeah, you really ought to give an address at the very least.

I've lived in Printer's Row/south Loop area for twelve years and have no idea where the Marquee building is.

  5. I stopped by during lunch today. Looks like cool place for unique furniture and such. The owner said that should have the website up and running soon.

  6. Is this the same fly-by-night place that was in the Moser Building last year?

  7. checked the place out yesterday and was really impressed. They have very unique stuff and to my surprise most of the items were reasonably priced. Plus the coolest thing is the consignment aspect of the place. If you have "stuff" at home that could sell at the store like furniture, art, etc.. The owner and you decide on a fair price and then you split the profit 50/50. Love that idea of being able to sell great items we all have in our homes that for whatever reason are no longer used.

  8. I stopped by yesterday also. I was impressed by the selection, even though there isn't a lot of stuff in there yet. I really liked an old wooden ladder and a pair of low stools, but both were already sold! Guess that's good for business, bad for me :) I hope it succeeds - I'd like to see what else they get!

  9. they need to change their hours...i walk passed their shop every day after work and they are always closed at like 6/7pm..... seems like they keep inconvenient hours for the 'typical' working demographic
