Sloopin Recognized as One of Chicago's Best Blogs

Although we don't like to toot our own horn very often, we're going to! It's been just over six months since we launched Sloopin and things are going pretty well. On March 23rd we had a new record for visitors and were also featured as one of 'Chicago's Best Blogs' on the front page of chicagotribune.com:
Most importantly, we wanted to say thanks to all of our Sloopers for the great comments, emails, feedback, tips and help. Without you we would have never gotten this far. We appreciate your help and look forward to the future!

  4. Thanks for the kind words and like we said we truly appreciate the comments, advice, emails etc. Keep’em coming!

For those of you who are interested why we say "we", it's because we at Sloopin have a group of people who help us. Although Sloopy is the main poster, many of the opinions, articles and content come from and are influenced by a group of South Loop residents (or people interested and well informed about the area).

We've tried to avoid having one singular personality and voice because we rely on others to help us with the blog.

We also copied the model of one of our favorite magazines, The Economist. If you’re familiar with the magazine you probably noticed that there are no bylines for any article (so no authors listed on each article). The entire magazine and staff tries to have a collective voice, instead of singular opinions. Although we don’t claim to be as reputable or informative as The Economist, we simply like that model.

  5. The question was in regard to the site owners and organizers, and people who place the links up, not the average posters.

Great site concept. I hope it succeeds.

But in interests of transparency, why not put a post up about who site owners are and their bios, credentials, or affiliations of the people behind the scenes (other than the posters).

  6. We will think about putting up some bio information, we didn't previoiusly for random reasons.

If you would like to know more information in the mean time feel free to email us at sloopin@gmail.com
